North Carolina Zen Center COVID-19 Policy
The North Carolina Zen Center, in an effort to open our facilities to as many practitioners as possible while at the same time seeking to ensure the safety of our communities and sangha, has adopted the following policies with regard to COVID-19:
- The Center holds in-person practice opportunities and strive to operate in full compliance with all CDC and North Carolina guidelines.
- For those wishing to take part in any in person practice activities at the Center (indoor or outdoor), including weekly sittings, group discussions, or full day retreats we recommend vaccination, including any recommended booster shots. We require vaccination for overnight retreats. Please furnish proof of vaccination at overnight retreat check-in.
- Masks are not currently required, although we reserve the right to require masks in the Zendo, kitchen, bathrooms, or any other buildings on the Center’s property (other than in an assigned dorm room).
- Anyone who has exhibited COVID-like symptoms or been diagnosed with COVID-19 may not remain on Center property or visit the Center until they have met the criteria to discontinue home isolation and consulted with a healthcare provider.
- Any resident of the Center who has exhibited COVID-like symptoms, been diagnosed with COVID-19 must follow CDC guidelines for quarantining and must consult with a healthcare provider before resuming participation in any Center activities.
- The Center’s Board of Directors and/or the Abbot reserve the right to enforce or expand upon all regulations regarding Covid-19 as set forth by the CDC or relevant local or state agencies.
For sangha members who do not wish to come to the Center in person, we will continue to offer remote access to the Center’s practice activities through Zoom and Facebook. Please visit our website for information on how to participate.
